These are the kinds of sources Px3B works from. Reports on the site do not carry these labels yet.

Official Document
A document obtained through official channels or public records.
Corroborated Sources
Information confirmed by two or more independent sources.
Public Record
A government or institutional record obtained through a records request or public access.
Linked Litigation
Court filings or legal documents on public record, for example through CourtListener or state courts.
Direct Submission
Sent to Px3B by an incarcerated person, a family member or a witness. Reviewed before publication, but not independently verified.
❖Where the Figures Come From❖

The standards above are about reports. These are about numbers, which get their accuracy a different way. Every published figure carries the source it came from and the date it was last checked against that source, shown on the facility page itself.

❖How Often a Figure Is Checked❖

There is no fixed re-checking schedule, and it would be misleading to publish one we do not keep. What exists instead is a record. Every figure shows the date it was last checked. Every change to a published figure is written down, with what it said before, and appears on the What Changed page. Any figure that has gone 90 days without a recorded change is flagged inside the staff console for someone to look at. Flagging it is not the same as checking it, and the page will not claim otherwise.

That record begins on the day it was switched on. Before that, every update overwrote the figure before it, and those earlier values are gone. Nothing can recover them, and nothing here will pretend to.

Every dataset behind this site can be downloaded whole, as CSV or JSON, with no account and no key: px3bnv.org/api/export lists what there is, and each entry carries the same caveats stated above. Checking a figure we publish should not require taking our word for it.
