Contact the facility directly to confirm your loved one's status. Request the name and badge number of any officers involved. Document everything in writing immediately.
File an Immediate Grievance
If the incident involves injury, medical emergency, or rights violation - request a grievance form immediately. NDOC requires formal grievances before most legal remedies.
Contact Legal Resources
Contact the ACLU of Nevada, Nevada Legal Services, or the University of Nevada law clinic. For federal rights violations, the U.S. District Court for Nevada allows pro-se filings.
Document Everything
Keep copies of all correspondence, grievance filings, and communications. Dates, times, names, and incident details must be preserved. Use the Px3B notebook to log notes.
